From the Backseat

It's pouring rain, David, Annie and I are in the car. I turn on the news radio to check the weather and the announcer says a boat sank in the Hudson River.

Annie: "Did a boat SINK?"
Dave: "Yes."
Annie: "Did anybody DIE?"
Katie: "No honey, nobody died."
Annie: "But how do you know nobody DIED?"
Katie: "Because it's the news and they didn’t SAY it, and the news LOVES to tell you when somebody died."
Annie: (Pause) "I love drama."
