Moment in real time

I declare my joy in the moment, and the problem with that is the moment changes. I declare my grief in the moment, and the good thing about that is the moment changes. But the bad thing about all of it is--you never expect the joy to go, and you can't imagine the grief ever leaving. 

A couple of years ago, I was explaining to my mother exactly the kind of man I wanted in my life. She listened patiently as I rattled off my list of requirements, then she said, "Katie, you are going to meet someone. He won't be the man on your list, he won't be the man of your dreams, and at first, he may even be unrecognizable. But he will be the right man for you."
