Enclosed please find my gas card and request to cancel my account with BP Gas Company.
Personally, I was tired of seeing an ongoing trend in your stations here in New York. The day before gas prices were expected to rise, BP stations would be closed. (Of course one could still go into the mini-mart and purchase stuff, just not gas.) Now I know this is only a hunch, but is it possible that BP systematically holds onto their gas so they can profit from an increase that is just a day away? Gas stations in New York City are few and far between and I often find myself running close to empty only to spot a closed BP station...and it’s always the day before an increase. Hmmm.
I soon learned that in 2000 you used the slogan "Beyond Petroleum" to re-brand yourself as an ethically and environmentally responsible company, however since then, among many other things, you have drilled for oil in Colorado, are responsible for spills in California, and have been accused of violating human rights in Indonesia.
I’ll be sure to fill up the tank more often, but I’ll stay exclusively with Citgo. Venezuelan oil; a company who, to the best of my knowledge, does some good in the world. Imagine that. Can you?
Sincerely,
Katie Bowen
