David: "I take it back."
Katie: "What?"
David: "I'm listening to John Coltrane and I'm hearing tons of joy."

Katie explains to Mom: "David thinks the undercurrent of jazz is essentially sad and I, for the most part, disagree."

Mom walks into the living room and listens to Coltrane play.

Mom: "Oh, he's having a GOOD time!"
