It's the only day of the year when the streets of the city are empty and good parking spots are there for the picking. It's a great day to go to a movie without standing on line, or for doing laundry without competing for an empty machine. It's the birthdays of Bill Withers and Gina Lollobrigida, and wasn't the Declaration of Independence signed on this day as well? Hot damn, this is my kind of holiday.
