The Lioness Roars

For her birthday she received phone calls and emails from faraway friends, and from her family. She was embraced by her husband, by the Korean grocer, the women at the beauty salon, and by a stranger on 23rd Street. She ate steak and salad and drank champagne late into the night on an 80-foot sailboat while quietly cruising the river past the Manhattan skyline. She is loved and satisfied and she gives thanks.

Dina, we both have it made girl. Let me know when you're ready to see how we live here in the Big Apple and I'll take you to all my favorite spots. Then I'll fly out there and you can teach me how to relax on the beach. I'm a quick learner and I've been known to do very well on sand and water.

Aloha, Katie

Seriously, any time you want to come to New York, consider me your personal tour guide. (Just understand that it will be like no tour you could book through an agency.) Ice-skating at Rock Center is good, but ice-skating at Walman Rink in Central Park is even better. (We’ll do both.) And guaranteed, one day I WILL take you up on those surfing lessons from your husband. Yes Dina, we are so on.
