Random Photo From the 1970's

I'm not sure why, but I just love family photos from the 1970's. Perhaps it's the yellowish tint they all posses, the familiar way it muddies the trees in the background and bleaches the grass underfoot. When I see a photo from the 1970's, it doesn’t matter if it’s my own or, like the one shown here, of people I have no connection to whatsoever. I am transported back to my own tight shirts and feathered hair, my father's big glasses and my brother's easy smile. I’m taken to a time when my mother stood beside her brood on a front lawn, and when life, so it seemed to me, was as carefree as a ride on a minibike in the abandoned lot up the street.
