Jokingly, I used to say that I wished marriage vows were different. I thought if instead of saying, "I promise to love and cherish you until death do us part," it would be more honest to say, "I promise to love and cherish you until I don't anymore."I know it sounds terribly unromantic, but I'm beginning to think it makes more sense.

Surely one can love their spouse until they are separated by death, but making a promise that they will, that part no longer makes sense to me.
No cynicism here, I assure you. I'm just a hopeless romantic interested in experiencing it all, romance, love, commitment, in a more authentic way than I've known it before.
