Many years ago I was walking in the rain across 72nd Street, when I spotted a wallet laying wet on the ground. I picked it up, called its owner, and the next night, when the owner came to retrieve the wallet, he brought me a cake that he baked himself.
My father once told me the most important thing in life was to evolve as a human being. Years after that, he told me the most important thing in life was to have an intimate relationship with another human being. I believe he was right about both.
