Me: "Tell me something Frankie, do you have to call me ma’am?"
Frankie: "No, no I don't. I'm sorry."
Me: "I mean here's the thing. I'm 45-years-old, I'm in better shape than I've ever been and feel more beautiful than I ever have. When you call me ma’am, well, I don't know, it's like you're talking to an old lady who's riding the bus, clutching tightly to her handbag."
Frankie: "You're right Ms. Bowen."
Me: "Call me Katie."
Frankie: "You're right, Katie--and let me just apologize and tell you I have no doubt about your beauty. And I promise, I will never call you ma’am again."
Me: "But it's not just for me--it's for all the women out there in their 40's and 50's--do it for them Frankie!"
Frankie: "I will Katie, I promise.
So, your delivery will arrive tomorrow between 7 and 12, and from this day on, you will always be in my mind when I'm speaking with the women of America!"
Me: "And on behalf of all of us, I thank you."
Frankie: "Have a good day, Katie."
Me: "Have a good day, Frankie."

THANK YOU, THANK YOU!!!! It really does make you feel that way...LOL!!! I have a look on my face when someone calls me "ma'am" and my husband can spot it anytime. He'll say to Tiki.."Uh oh, your Moms just been "Ma'amed"!!
Hello Katie. Interesting piece.. I understand what you are saying.. however, different places different ways .........., In Manilla recently I was with a friend being shown round a lovely shopping area; the polite and courteous greeting everywhere we went was "hello ma'm, hello sir", or "good morning ma'am, good morning sir". my friend is 26 :-)
you weren't buying the larger penis were you?
dina--"Ma'amad"-- I love it!
n--If I ever get "Ma'amed" in Manilla I promise, I will smile and bite my lip.
anonymous--no, they don't deliver that quickly.
